NEW YORK STATE BOATING SAFETY COURSE

The NY State Safe Boater’s Course will begin on Wednesday 28 January 2004. The course will be held at the yacht club beginning at 7:30 pm sharp. The course will be a maximum of six sessions and will cover the basics that a boater must know re: boat handling, equipment and handling emergency situations. The course is open to all students passed the age of 10 years old and is free to all students up to 18 years of age. For older students there is a five dollar fee to register with NY State and receive a completion certificate. It should be noted that beginning in 2004 all operators of personal water craft ( jet skis) are required to have successfully completed this course or a similar one. Topics to be covered: Know Your Boat; Before You Get Underway; Operating Your Boat Safely; Legal Requirements; Boating Emergencies-What Do You Do and Enjoying Water Sports With Your Boat.
