ABOUT SBYC

The Smithtown Bay Yacht Club is a private, not-for-profit, member owned cooperative club, with approximately 150 member families. SBYC is located on the north shore of Long Island (N 40º55.319’ W073º10.038’) near the southeast corner of Smithtown Bay. For turfers, you will find us tucked away on a quiet and picturesque peninsula called Long Beach in the Village of Nissequogue, in the Township of Smithtown. The Club has a clubhouse and a marina, both of which have recently been expanded and modernized.  All of the facilities of the Smithtown Bay Yacht Club, including the clubhouse  and the marina, are available for the exclusive use of members and their guests only, and are not available to the general public - there are no transient slips available.

OUR MARINA  is located on the south side of the clubhouse adjacent to the Smithtown Marina, where there is a fueling station, pump-out station, boat launching ramps and snack bar. Both marinas are on the north shore of the Porpoise Channel of Stony Brook Harbor. Our marina has 108 slips for boats up to 35 feet long with up to 13 foot beams. All slips are assigned to members and are occupied for the boating season.  Each slip is supplied with water and electric and all slips are protected under the watchful eye of video surveillance. For the fishermen, there is a fish cleaning station and a bait freezer. And, there is ample parking for members and guests.

OUR CLUBHOUSE, which has recently been expanded and newly redecorated, is used by members and guests for meetings and social gatherings. It is fully air-conditioned, has a full service kitchen, two heads with showers for "Captains" and "Mates", an audio system and cable TV, and a bar with a full range of beverages. In addition, a Board Room is used for smaller meeting of the Governing Board. For a complete description of clubhouse operations see the HOUSE web page.

Lush trees stand tall to shade the clubhouse, as well as the grounds that include a children’s playground. On the north side of the clubhouse a gazebo sits atop the crest of the sand dunes giving a beautiful view of Smithtown Bay from Eatons Neck to Cranes Neck. On a clear day one can see across the Long Island Sound to the south shore of Connecticut. A short walk down the stairs of the Gazebo leads to the sand beach, which is the site for kite flying, snapper fishing and cool bathing in the calm waters of the Sound. On a stroll back from the beach an outside shower can be used to clean off before entering the clubhouse for a cool drink.
